About Us

The journey with the tree farm has been a process that spanned over the last 16 years. We actually thought about growing Christmas trees several years ago but we both had full time jobs and teenagers at home, so it got put on the back burner for a while until the family was raised and we could retire. Fast forward to about a year ago, the subject of starting a choose & cut tree farm arose again. After many weeks of research, prayer and discussion, the idea began to take shape and we planted our first white pine seedlings in April of 2023. This process is expected to take about 5-6 years of growing seasons before we can offer choose and cut trees and during this time, we will continue to plant seedlings. We were so excited to provide this service to our community that we absolutely could not wait to open the farm, so we decided to go all in and offer fresh precut trees for the next few seasons until our baby trees are ready to choose and cut. This allows our customers who return to the farm to purchase precut trees the opportunity to get to know us now while the trees are in their growing stage. How cool is that?

This journey is also a nod to Danny’s father, Brice Barding and his service to the Tennessee Division of Forestry where he worked for 30 years before retiring back to this very farm as a full time farmer. Danny recalls walking along side his dad many times through the years as a young boy actually planting tree seedlings for the forestry service. So, in a lot of ways, this new journey for Barding Farm is in memory of Brice Barding and his love of working for the forestry service and farming this land. What better way to honor him than to plant a tree farm in his memory. We are very excited to welcome you to Barding Farm & The Cottage to follow along this journey with us and make memories for years to come with your families.

Barding Farm is a proud member of the Tennessee Christmas Tree Growers Association (TCTGA).
